New operators set to enter Dutch online casino market in 2024

According to a report by Kanspelautoreite (KSA), the online gambling market in the Netherlands, which advises that while gambling accounts in northwestern European countries are stagnant, revenue growth is shrinking, appears to have cooled somewhat since its opening in October 2021. According to experts at CasinoScout.nl , the market continues to meet expectations.

According to the government agency responsible for overseeing and regulating gambling services in the Netherlands, the legal market for internet-based gambling has improved over the past six months, but at a much slower rate than expected when compared to previously measured periods.

Data included in the safety agency's fifth monitoring report on online gambling (pdf) showed that total gambling sales (GGR) increased by 8% from January to August 2023. This compares with 33% growth in sales reported from August 2022 to January 2023. The levelling up means "the market is developing as expected," said safety agency president Renee Jansen

"Sustained growth ensures increased accountability among providers," Janssen said. "The KFA continues to strictly monitor whether Dutch players can gamble in safe markets with sufficient attention to addiction prevention and insight into possible problematic game behavior."

Dutch licensing operators accumulated a total GGR of 1.33 billion euros (£1.15 billion/$1.4 billion) between August 2022 and July 2023. A report published by KSA and analyzed by CasinoScout.nl said most forms of gambling advertising bans implemented by the Dutch government on July 1 this year were expected to result in a decline in revenue as the number of players attracted to online offerings decreased.

Increase the number of accounts

The report also summarizes a slight decrease in the number of active accounts gambling in the country. The total number of accounts fell to 33,000 in six months, from 859,000 in January to 8,266,000 in July. However, this does not indicate the total number of accounts, as multiple accounts are often used by consumers. The gambling regulator estimated that 676,000 Dutch gamblers gambled during the February-July period, with 417,000 participating per month.

The percentage of consumers who played games on legal websites stood at 93 percent, up nominally 1 percent from a previous report released by the Korea Consumer Association, while 98 percent of new users gambled on legal services alone. The goal was for 80% of consumers to transition to legal services, which is a goal that has been achieved so far.

CasinoScout.nl : "More new operators expected in 2024"

According to the report, the legal online gambling market in the Netherlands was officially opened on October 1, 2021 under the Telegambling Act (KOA Act). Since then, the sector has seen strong growth, rising from the first 10 to 27 on Sept. 29, 2021, including popular Leo Vegas, which was newly issued a five-year license in July this year after operating in the Netherlands before regulating the online gambling market. 슬롯

According to CasinoScout.nl in 2024, several new operators will enter the market. Land-based operator Homerson will make its debut in the online market, and JOI 2 Limited is still waiting to launch a new online casino. Additionally, several brands of Rootz Limited are lining up to launch a Dutch version in 2024.
